The thing about this line, Wolverine, and Iron Man are that they are more for kids. I mean you can tell in this line thanks to all of the gimmicks like light-up eyes and battle armor. This is all stuff made up for toys. Even Doc Ock isn't a version from the comic books.

Articulation is at least better than the Iron Man line. Pretty much none of the Iron Man line have elbow or knee articulation.

This is a very well articulated and reasonable argument. I think often we formulate opinions on matters such as this with only the perspective of an adult collector, as opposed to the business side of toys which takes everything into account. The Wolverine and the X-Men line I heard was cancelled, that does not surprise me. I think the appeal of certain characters lend themselves better to certain audiences than do others, particularly with regards to business tactics and consumer acceptance. Being able to sell the same mold repeatedly by changing the paint scheme and/or the accessories that come with them is paramount for the toy business as we all know.

For example, Batman and Spiderman toys have thrived for years now with the many different representations of each character with their varied accessories. But these are crafty characters that can be associated with using such ridiculous accessories in the eyes of a child. Wolverine has blades coming out of his hands. Crazy looking astronaut gear or scuba gear just seems too out of place for guys like him. Kids don't really care about comic accuracy, they want variety, their imaginations dictate where they go from there. This explains why some of my favorite toys as a kid from the TMNT line were the sports themed ones where Donatello had a working jump shot, and Raphael swung a baseball bat, etc. I had hours of fun playing H.O.R.S.E with Donatello when friends came over.

Nowadays, I care about accuracy, quality and articulation of my action figures as opposed to those silly gimmicks that used to entertain me for hours on end as a kid. Is it that my imagination has left me, or have I grown to appreciate action figure designs as an artform as one might admire a fine oil painting? Ok, so the oil painting analogy may be a stretch but you get my point hopefully.
