So Yellow, Green, and Blue Lanterns tend to be stable (or at least not as influenced by the emotion they embody).
Then the Red Lanterns are mostly (or at least start) as almost mindless berserkers (they can get better though). Violet Lanterns/Star Sapphires can get REALLY obsessive, but at least at the moment in the story I think the Star Sapphires are at least considered "semi-good."
More accurately, he became totally awesome in the late 80's/early 90's which was also when his popularity ramped up considerably. Then after a bunch of poor portrayals and some silliness in his own book about losing his memory, getting de-aged, and becoming immortal they eventually turned him into a garden-variety villain that seemed to have none of the sense of honor that the character started out with. They did very much "beef him up" as a threat, but only to basically tear him back down again (Green Arrow kicked his butt, though to be fair he trained himself intensively for like a year to do it). Dunno what exactly is going on with him in the New 52 except that they messed with a fair bit of the interesting stuff in his origin.
I used to be a BIG fan of Deathstroke. He was one of DC's few cool antiheroic characters (I like Lobo, but let's be honest, Lobo works best as a comedic character, and at the time Black Adam was still a full-fledged villain). Not a big fan of how he reverted in later years. Also, I kept hoping beyond hope that DCUC would put out a figure of him in his
blue costume
. I may have disliked his portrayal in most of the appearances he made in the costume, but I always really liked the look. I like his "classic" outfit too (especially from an "Dark Captain America" standpoint), but his was one of the few "edgy 90's redesigns" that I liked...mostly because it seemed like a pretty sensible costume, all told.
I was going for the abbreviated version where as you offered a fuller explaination. def a great character when written well and not as a run of the mill villain
