We've got something of a treat for you now, because it is not every day we get to share a gallery of the first character in an all-new faction with you! In this gallery update we have
Transformers Prime Voyager Class Thundertron
, leader (and so far only official member) of the new faction of Star Seekers, introduced in the Transformers Exodus novel.
Thundertron truly is a unique character. Design wise, he is chock full of molded details, a far cry from the typically "cleaner" design aesthetic of the Transformers Prime designs. He's also the first true beast we've had in a good long while, and to top it all off, he's an all-new character - not a homage or an obscure but existing character getting a toy for the first time. Also, he's a space-pirate robot with a peg leg. Arrrrr.
The toy himself is an excellent design. The beast mode is convincing, with more of a techno-animal feel to it than a Beast Wars one, while the robot mode has some good poseability and excellent balance, even with the peg leg! Design wise though, while he fits in with the other Prime toys, Thundertron blurs the line enough to look good with toys from other lines as well - which is good, given that three out of the four other named Star Seekers can be repurposed from other toys, and the four look pretty decent together.
All in all, well recommended. Thundertron is a good and fun toy, worthy of a purchase once he hits retail along with his wavemate Ultra Magnus. Open the link below to check out the gallery to see more of Thundertron and decide for yourself!
