Save gold by leveling, 4-starring missions, and maybe doing some simple offers like surveys, application downloads, gamefly, netflix, etc.

Agreed on saving your gold, and if anything you don't get him in PVP you can always get him when they release him to buy with CP and you can use your gold on getting CP's as well.
