You start out as a Generalist with the passive "Always Prepared" as shown in the Generalist pics below. This random buff granted from this passive stays even when you change classes.

You are able to use this action below to start cycling through more abilities and classes. You can use this as many times as you want each turn. You can switch to Tactician, attack a Blaster, get bonus turn, switch through the classes over and over to get to Bruiser for example, to then attack a Scrapper.



So just as with the Generalist having the "Always Prepared" passive, each new class you switch to grants you a new passive as well. To see them, the first pic in each section of class/abilities below will show these passives as a blue buff at the bottom of the character stats pic.

So as you can see, you can literally cycle through to always have the best class to fight with as well as always have the debuff you may want the most for the situation. Punisher is another Mockingbird in my opinion, another human with no superpowers that is better than everyone else in the game upon release.. haha.
