Actually, the scales on the Allosaur are probably accurate, since a VERY closely related animal in China (which had been classified AS Allosaurus fragilis until 2008) left skin indentions which also included scutes along the flank and shoulders. Scutes in dinosaurs is definitely not unheard of.

As for the size scale, the average Allosaur skeleton is typically estimated to be 23 to 28 feet long. Only two individual finds ever surpassed 35 feet in estimated length. Assuming the human figure is a typical western male height of 5'9 to 5'11, that puts the Allosaur near 25 ft long, which is acceptable.
Figure the below skeleton's size. Assuming the barrier is typical-height (at or below the belt line of a 5' 9 man) the scale fits fine.
