I think the OP's list is a whole lotta far-fetched. Iron Man 2's comic series got plenty of characters that were not in the movie, but they were still Iron Man characters.

Captain America pushed it a tiny bit with Captain Britain.

You've just proposed a list that basically has...no Iron Man characters.

That's not a realistic assessment of "What could have been." Honestly even "Tony and the gang in civilian clothes" is unrealistic based on past patterns.
