It's that slider joint, man. If it's not exactly right, the tabs won't line up with the slots correctly, because the trends will push the legs out of alignment (the hips should be pushed in all the way towards the nosecone too, but I'm assuming you've already done that part).

I know it still won't make up for the horrible shoulder design, but I hope that helps a little.
