By all means, tell us which toy line out there has not raised prices in the last few years, hasn't had issues with cuts in accessories/paint apps/articulation, has flawless quality control, and caters to their customers every whim when it comes to customer service. If such a company doesn't exist, you're holding Mattel to an unrealistic standard. That's fine and dandy if that's your thing, but just means you're going to go through life a consistently bitter and disappointed individual.

Is there room for improvement? Damn right there is. Digital River has generally been a comedy of errors for Mattel. I just don't generally expect for-profit businesses to willingly lose money to try to please the inherently unpleasable entity that is "the internet."
