I have this same set and I've wanted more information on it for years. In searching for it online, your post was the ONLY sign of it's existence that I could find. I figured I'd post some pictures and info to see if it would help identify one of my favorite childhood toys. I still have most of the pieces and figures, so you can see what originally came with it.
Here's absolutely everything I can remember about these toys:
In the photos above, you're seeing two separate sets. However, when I first saw these toys, it was in one large set. Instead of the four main structures connected by two angled tunnels, it was three main structures connected by one "T" intersection tunnel. If memory serves, it was basically something like this:
This product was on the shelves in Belgium at a supermarket called GB around 1997/1998. The aliens in the set are obvious knock-offs of the creatures from the Alien movies, which my friends and I were huge fans of, so we would drool over this set on the shelves. I never got the chance to get this product before moving back to America. I figured it was only available in Europe and assumed I'd never see it again. But then in 1998/1999, I saw the two smaller versions in a KB Toys store and purchased them.
A lot of the pieces are interchangeable, all connecting to the main structures and vehicles with pegs of the same size, allowing kids to mix and match weapons & accessories as they please. Here are the sets with most of the pieces removed:
