Today we want to share with all of you with something a bit special - a toy that never made it to general US retail! For your enjoyment today, we have a look at the
never-released
Transformers Animated Activators Electromagnetic Soundwave
.
Soundwave in Transformers Animated, rather than being a member of Megatron's Decepticons, was a creation of the human genius Isaac Sumdac which had evolved and taken on a life of his own through exposure to the Allspark powered key held by Sumdac's daughter, Sari. The "Electromagnetic" Soundwave was featured prominently in the cliffhanger ending of the season 3 Transformers Animated episode as a gigantic version of the Decepticon. This makes it more ironic that the redeco was used on the smaller version of Soundwave.
As a toy, the deco looks very sharp. The white and teal in vehicle mode go together nicely, and the purple windows give the vehicle a bit of personality. Robot mode adds more black into the mix, which contrasts nicely against the white and creates a unique and fun deco. As far as the toy itself goes, Soundwave is simple to transform, moving between modes in less than five steps, and featuring good all round articulation including elbow and knee swivels, lateral outward movement on the shoulders and full movement on the head.
Overall, Electromagnetic Soundwave is a fun little toy with a nice and different deco. A few have been appearing on eBay lately for reasonable prices, if you are a fan of Animated or a fan of Soundwave, you definitely ought to look into it.
