I've heard of people putting a toy in a Ziploc bag with a box of baking soda for a few days.

I left them in the garage for a fortnight. It helped a lot.

I'm surprised the vinegar didn't eat through the plastic (or at least damage the paint apps/stickers).

Although a well-ventilated area will do wonders for odors.
