To me it seems that Mattel is having a very hard time finding that sweet spot amongst all those factors.
I sincerely doubt they would ever intentionally ignore or refuse a opportunity to make a profit. Lack of profit would be the only reason I could see as to why any for-profit company would actively avoid a given market within its industry.
Not to mention he/she might think there's something wrong with his/her new Batman toy, assuming that kid doesn't know the backstory of Batzarro.
Well they are all but blowing off the Collectors Market.. Saddly the stores need to stock these figures to sell them and In the Hudson Valley, NY the Stocking has been Lackluster at best for DC Items. It the Symbotic relationship People can't buy if stores don't stock, and Stores don't sell if people cannot buy, and stores turn around and say "We aren't selling these items" but they don't see the shelves. Let me tell you the one store that does have these figures near me cannot keep them in stock unless it's a 9 or 10th Varient of the same guy I.E. Hal Jordan, Batman. Heck if you look at Marvel stuff has been sitting in Kmart or Target since October 2012.
Nobody knows the Batzarro back story because Mattel and DC thought it was a good Idea to go to the most obscure Villain possible
