The fad is over. There are millions of cheap plastic guitars in landfills. The genre may never come back. To a lesser extent, there are also a bunch of cheap plastic drum sets. To complete the band effect, there were also microphones for singing along.
There are/were other games that were solely singing games, using only a mic. The selection of games for rock band/GH were predominantly based on the guitar. So that got me thinking...what if it were "Drum Hero?" A 1 player game for drummers? Much like all the GH games can be played 1 player w/ song specifically picked for the sake of the guitar, this game would feature the drum and have music selected with a bunch of drum solos?
Not a drum player? Never wanted to play the drums? Well, everybody has that 1 weird instrument that they found appealing. For me, it was the trombone, but u can't play a rock game featuring the trombone, right? So how about making all the instruments with each game having it's own specific controller? Each game would also have music selected for its instrument. So it wouldn't all be necessarily "rock" music.
All of the "wind" instruments would also require the user to blow into the controller, like a breatalizer. Since they'd all be 1 player, contamination wouldn't be that big of concern. Most of these controllers could feature the same color coded push button controllers, just all in different configurations & packaging.
Such as "Flute Hero", where the last song is Jethro Tulls Locomotive Breath?
or "Harmonica Hero", featuring some old black guy jazz songs, some old 40s/50s country western songs and the end song by Blues Traveler?
Sax Hero, Harp Hero, Accordian Hero featuring mostly Polka &/or Weird Al songs, Keyboard Hero w/ mostly 80s music, Violin Hero with a controller that you had to operate using a bow, Band Hero Redneck Front Porch edition featuring a washboard controller & jug controller, etc.
Say they released 12 different controllers, each with its own music tracks...do you think any of them would appeal enough to you to make you buy a cheap plastic instrument controller again?
