As for Play Arts, I think what may have sold Kojima and co. are the excellent sculpts, et al. Play Arts has some magnificent entries in the line. Definitely want the major characters from MGS 1-4...we NEED a Snake and Meryl from MGS1, Raiden from MGS2, Solidus, Raiden from MGS4, Sniper Wolf, et al.

Yeah I remember McFarlane had both MGS1 and MGS2, and I regret not picking any of that line up.
