Our latest Transformers Generations toy gallery is now online! Available for your enjoyment today is a look at
Transformers Generations Autobot Whirl
, who has just started to arrive at US retail.
Autobot Whirl is a great release in the Voyager class. He is a very Generation 1-faithful update complete with stickers to reproduce all the Generation 1 stickered details, but if you dislike stickers, he looks perfectly good without them.
Articulation is good, Whirl has some excellent movement in his shoulders and elbows. His hips and knees also boast some good articulation but take note that the upper hinge on the silver part of the legs is extremely stiff out of the box.
Those who dislike the Movie aesthetic might be disappointed to see that Whirl has “chicken legs”, though they suit the design and are accurate to the More than Meets the Eye comic. Also accurate to the comic is the head design, which is a very pleasing touch.
Whirl comes with a small arsenal of weapons including two missile pods, triple barreled machine gun and a Nul-Ray cannon. Each weapon has a selection of posts and C-clip connectors, allowing you to attach them to Whirl’s different modes and arrange his weapons loadout however you desire.
Overall Whirl is a nice, fun toy. He has three modes to transform into, including an intermediate “heloped” mode, which itself can be arranged with the robot arms deployed or folded away. The helicopter cockpit opens as well, in another nice tough. He’s out now at retail, and well deserving of a purchase, especially for those who are fans of the More than Meets the Eye comic book where Whirl has a starring role. Take a look at the gallery, linked below, to see for yourself.
