I'm really digging the Construct-o-bots Grimlock though. He scales incredibly well to my Halo mini figs. I'm torn now on wanting the Dinobots that way or getting the normal deluxe/voyager ones. Might end up getting both. Damn my wallets going to be crying this year.
I hear you there on Optimus. I just wish that Hasbro wouldn't have went so cheap on him. His alt mode is simply bad ass, but the lack of paints really shows in his robot mode. I kinda consider this figure to be an homage to the original, but instead of swinging for the fences on a 3-0 pitch, Hasbro opted to take the base on balls.
Hard to say on the Dinobots as to which ones are honestly better. I think all of them thus far are pretty nice, but I think the Construct Bots beat out the main line's figures ever so slightly. As awesome of aesthetic the Dino-Bot theme is on Deluxe/Voyager figures, they have some serious issues in Dinosaur mode
(especially Slugg)
with tabs not pegging in place properly due to the mixture of hard plastics and soft rubber parts. They fall apart quite easily in dinosaur mode
(SLUGG...UGH!)
and the way Grimlock's hands are fixed to his feet
(Grim's feet plug into his forearms in robot mode, making his articulated wrist, well...non-articulating.)
is really annoying and is more of a pain to deal with, which is a shame because the transformations are easy and fun. Plus, Voyager Grimlock's weapon SUCKS compared to Construct Bot Grimlock.
At least you don't have to transform and deal with those ridiculous horns on Voyager Grimlock, and can keep them flat on his Carnotaurus mode. When you stick them up, he ends up looks like some kind of wierd, tiger-striped, two legged chihuahua. With all the Hasbro bashing that people do, kudos to them for at least giving us that option.
