Yes, because Mattel only has one budget to cover all their licenses and IPs.

Just because DC and MOTU are sold through the same website doesn't mean they share the same funding. You wouldn't blame a new G1-inspired Transformers toy for a Marvel toy being scrapped, would you?

IMO, that's not enough time for Lee to have plagiarized Drake's idea without knowing about Doom Patrol well in advance of My Greatest Adventure #80 (their debut issue, for those unaware).

Just going by the original DP, I'd totally agree. That version is much closer to the FF than the original X-Men.
