Technically, if you only want to follow movie continuity, you can watch the Cartoon Network Clone Wars animated shorts, then Episode III. The shorts acts as a bridge between the two movies, gives you a basic introduction to General Grievous and explains why he is the way he is at the start of Episode III.

I have not watched the second Clone Wars animated series, so I can't really comment on it.

"animated shorts"? are these part of the series? or something I also need to find? I have access to the 2 seasons of TCW, but know nothing of these shorts.
