Hey guys!



Whew! ShinkenGold and Kaoru ShinkenRed are both done! I started working on these immediately after I finished the core five but didn't say anything because I knew it would be months before I could finish them. I don't do this 24/7 so I worked on them occasionally over the past several months.

Again, they're made from Power Rangers Jungle Fury figures, the first wave of Sound Fury figures.

I know BoA is probably going to bring over Shinkenger now, but I still love these customs. A big part of customizing is enjoying the process of making the figure, and not so much the end product itself, so I still think it was very worthwhile and can't wait to own two sets of these designs. One will always stay Shinkenger to me, while the new figures can represent the Power Rangers cast.

I also finally added the Shiba crests to the figures. I've gotten better at sculpting, so I can make such a small design now.

ShinkenGold



I used a very nice metallic gold for him. I also got a nice metallic silver too. His dark blue parts almost match the Jungle Fury Blue figure exactly, but I didn't have a spare JF Blue and used a JF Red. Haha yes, I had to paint all the dark blue areas. But it was worth it! I also love ShinkenGold's design because his character ("light") is part of my Asian name.

Kaoru ShinkenRed



I know in the show Kaoru's ShinkenRed is basically Takeru with a skirt, but I didn't want to settle for that with my custom. I found a new paint, a royal metallic red, that coincidentally had a feminine quality to it. It may not show up in the pictures, but she's a little shiny like ShinkenGold. This really helps her stand out from Takeru when the two are next to each other.

I also purposely tried to stylize her helmet visor to be a bit different from Takeru's. Takeru's emphasizes length, while Kaoru's visor spreads out more like a flower. Although, now that I see them both side by side, I think Kaoru's visor is more show-accurate! Now that I have more experience, I find sculpting details easier now.
