Thought I'd start a thread on something that has a fairly daunting number of collecting options.

What is Kamen Rider?
Badass men whose belts transform them into superhumans that kick your ass.

What kind of toylines are out there?
Aside from the "mainline", which is mostly vinyl figurines and roleplay toys, the -current- action figure side of things includes...
  • Souchaku Henshin/Armour Trans: The biggest range of Kamen Rider figures out there, these toys are designed with removable armour and diecast components. Over the last few years, the diecast content has lessened while the overall quality of the figures and their articulation has gone up. Lately, this line has been dwindling, but it's also one of the best ways to collect Riders from the last decade.
  • S.H.Figuarts: This new line seems to be replacing the SH/AT figures. Figuarts generally have a teeny amount of diecast, multiple hands, and incredible articulation. They also take a few design nods from SIC, mostly in that the figures are a lot leaner than a guy in a suit in real life would look.
  • SIC (Super Imaginative Chogokin): Higher-end toys with extremely stylized designs and a wide range of quality. Older SIC toys are generally shelf-display items, while more recent ones have added in further articulation and play value. SIC toys are the higher end of the non-sixth-scale spectrum, and the stylized designs can be a little hit or miss depending on your taste.
  • Motion Revive: Kamen Rider GI Joe! These trading figures are a huge sleeper success, blending the designs of Kamen Rider into the 3-3/4 inch scale, garnished with an astounding amount of posability for toys of their size. Though Motion Revive generally only contains newer Riders from Hibiki onwards, some older designs are going to appear in Motion Revive's updated form come December 2008. The new MR toys will be pricier, but feature painted weapons.
  • Project BM!: A joint venture between Bandai and Medicom, these 1/6 scale Riders are the pinnacle of both display value and monetary value. Usually costing between $150-350 apiece (depending on rarity), the Project BM! Riders are incredibly close to their real-life counterparts. You get what you pay for, but you pay a LOT.
  • Twist Action Form: A new line debuting in January (with Den-O Sword Form and Kuuga Mighty Form), the Twist Form figures will be around 8 inches tall. Their main feature is that beneath the armour, the figure is a wire armature wrapped in a padded black bodysuit. While this opens up a ton of posing possibilities, it remains to be seen if fragility will be this line's death knell.

I know there are more Kamen Rider fans out there, so here's a thread.
