I don't collect these myself, but I think it's a really cool aesthetic. Then again I grew up in the late 70's, so these kinds of toys were pretty much all we had for small figures until ARAH debuted.

Not to get too philosophical or "when I was your age", but I think starting off with Kenner's original POTF line and Mego's 8" stuff makes me appreciate modern toys like MU and Legends more than someone who grew up with ARAH, MU and ML and have higher expectations.

Me: The only leg articulation is a 90 degree forward swivel at the hip? Awesome, he can sit down.

Kids today: No ankle tilt? FAIL!

I always assumed that the POTFII style was at least partially based on the promotional materials for the movies. If you look at some of the old movie poster art from the first Star Wars film (before it was called Episode IV or A New Hope or any of that), Luke is actually drawn/painted like a bodybuilder. At least to me, he looks very similar to his POTFII figure.
