Well now you've forced me to play defense. Vastly inferior? That I highly doubt. I have neither figure, but looking at reviews and pictures I can say that the NECA Godzilla is just fine as a representation of the big guy. Neither is perfect compared to the mogegoji suit, but if we're nit-picking then the monsterarts figure's thighs look like wet matted down fur. I wasn't attacking the company as their stuff generally looks good, I was simply saying that paying one-third the price for NECA's offering is much more appeasing than going full price for not too many improvements on the figure itself.
Yes the NECA figure's tail should be about an inch longer I'd say, but the solidity, color, and details more than pass my inspections. Even some of the youtube reviewers I watched said they didn't care for how light/hollow the SH figure was compared to NECA, hell one of them flat out said NECA had a better face sculpt going on.
Both figures are good representations of the mogegoji suit, and it's your prerogative to decide which you like more. The way I see it the SH looks like it wins the pose (if only so much) and accessory battle, but NECA wins price easily. I can't pick between sculpt or paint since both have their trade-offs.
As a collector who doesn't have cash to go throw where ever the wind blows, I'm happily choosing the less expensive toy to go on my shelves.
