Yes, MOTU is wholly-owned by Mattel. That could have been a factor for both this and the previous POP exception. However, the CIE sub failed by a much-wider margin than either of the MOTU subs, which I believe factored heavily in the decision to cancel it.

Honestly, I think it worked out surprising well for DC fans in the long run.

I know that's hyperbole, but I'm pretty sure Mattel has stricter quantity limits than that. IIRC it was something like 10, but that could have just been for SDCC exclusives....

Oh and also subbed for Oo-lar...I have been waiting for that figure for years I tells ya. YEARS!
I can't cherry pick Oo-lar, and really don't want to pay top dollar for this on the ol 'bay.
A bare footed barbarian in a loin cloth. Yup. That's what does it for me.
No judgment here. This is a safe place.

Okay, to be honest, there are a bunch of MOTUCs that I want this year, not just Oo-lar, but what worries me is that I will not be able to resell these figures, even if I sold them at the same price Matty would be selling them for.
You might be surprised. Some collectors have professed they would pay anyone else for MOTUC figures rather than hand their money directly to Mattel or Digital River.

Mattel still ends up with the money, but I get that it's more of a symbolic victory for those collectors.
