They didn't even look like that in-game, when you froze him he just kinda turned blue-ish and layered, he didn't grow crystals out of his back and elbows. It's kind of funny, but the Mattel Clayface from the 2 packs that they're doing (there seems to be a series of them with one big guy and one normal guy all based on the Arkham series) looks more like he did in-game than the giant DCC figure.
I'd be lying if I said that I don't prefer the DCC head sculpt over the correct in-game model. The rest of it, though, isn't quite so good. I believe they said that they didn't want him looking like a big glob of mud in the vague shape of a man, but that's exactly what Clayface is, so I don't really understand their reasoning. The ice was also done to make him more interesting visually, but again, I don't necessarily see why they thought that particular idea was a good one.
I've always wanted a Clayface, though, and this is the biggest one. His BTAS episodes were some of the most memorable to me. Especially the one where Tim Drake befriends the little girl who turns out to be a golem. That was some creepy, mind-blowing stuff for a kid's cartoon.
Been toying with an idea for how to make a BTAS-style alternate head for this AC Clayface, too, just in case I eventually want a more classic look. I might make the attempt if the ice coverings turn out okay.
