Seeing more pictures, it does look a lot more like Sigourney Weaver from 1979 than people complain. I think people are comparing the figure's face to how she looked in Aliens but that was almost a decade after the first one came out and you can tell on her face. This figure captures Sigourney from '79 more than people credit. It's not 100% but given this scale it's hard to get there unless the face is already easily defined like Schwarzenegger and Stallone. Women have such softer features than men that they often don't translate to plastic very well.
I never realized there was such a gap between the first two movies.

This explains why the NECA figure looks okay to me. I just finished Alien: Isolation several days ago (along with the movie DLC), and recently rewatched the first film, so my mind now defaults to '79 Sigourney Weaver when I hear the name.
