I know its all speculation but theres no way its just a $2 difference to manufacture a 3.75" and a 6" fig . I see your point there but as you state ML figs cost more to make, that includes the entire figure and packaging. I dont think its about entirely about profit that pushes this product but what the development team pushes the company to produce. As of now the dev team favors the 6" line.
