We're back with another gallery of the Robots in Disguise Warrior class figures, belatedly finishing up our photos of wave 1! Here for your enjoyment is
Grimlock
!
Grimlock is a Dinobot, so he transforms into a tyrannosaur, just like the original Grimlock. The transformation is pretty neatly executed though the dino arms just sort of hang off the back. The way the design is done gives Grimlock some size and presence. In the show, he's a bruiser who thinks with his fists, and the toy gives him an appropriately bulky robot mode. That said, Grimlock lacks an accessory for some reason, and his articulation is a little restricted.
We then come on to the two biggest flaws on this figure. The lesser of the two is that this Grimlock is actually quite a small toy. I'm not normally a stickler for scale, but to have the character who is "the big guy" on the show come out smaller than Bumblebee or Strongarm is a little jarring. Second are the elbow joints. They use a weird pseudo-ratchet with a little plastic block pushing against teeth in the arm. The plastic on the forearms is thin, though, and if the block gets caught the wrong way on the teeth, it will tear right through the forearms. It's a really bad design choice, one I've personally experienced as you're actually looking at my second Grimlock in this gallery - my first broke within about a week of opening him.
Owing to all the flaws, I have a hard time recommending this one. It's a pity because it is a decent looking design, and would otherwise be okay, were it not just for those elbows. Check out the gallery to see this toy and decide if the looks make up for the noted flaws.
