It's time for some more in-hand galleries of the Combiner Wars toys, and with the recent announcement of a Menasor set for Japan, now seemed like a great time to take a look at the Stunticon Japan is not getting -
Offroad
!
Like Alpha Bravo, Offroad is a newcomer to the established combiner team, and his bio even pays tribute to that fact. He's visually got Wildrider's deco in truck mode, but in robot mode he has a nice shade of turquoise to break up the grey, which works great for him. Offroad also shares a bunch of cues with Generation 1 Crankcase, which some fans have picked up on, particularly in his robot mode.
As a toy, Offroad is good. He's got a full range of movement other than ankles in his legs, including a waist swivel. The arms feature a similar range of movement, but the sides of the truck on his shoulders can catch on the front of the truck on his back - but not as much as you might think, they actually have a very good range of movement. What I particularly love is that the head is on a balljoint, and has enough movement to be posed looking up or down, or even cocked sideways, which together with the wonderful personality captured in the headsculpt really gives Offroad a lot of character.
As you might have guessed, I really like this one, not only as a member of the Stunticons, but as an individual toy in his own right. Even if he gets displaced from my Menasor by an eventual Wildrider, I'm still planning to keep Offroad in my collection display for his own sake. Check out the gallery and see for yourself:
