I wouldn't feel threatened by these figures even if I was an enthusiastic fan of Star Wars (which I'm not - more of a Trekkie). Many of the people remarking about the featured designs being cool have no intention of buying these figs, myself included. Were I a Star Wars traditionalist, I might be more concerned about the influence of the upcoming movies than any potential debasement brought about by the success of these figures. Even then, I would eventually acquiesce to the fact that film interpretations and sensibilities are bound to change with time.
Hell, I'm still getting used to Black Widow using guns rather than her Widow's Bite (a feature that is only now making its debut in this upcoming Avengers movie). Guns vs super-villains is a laughable scenario to me and my sensibilities - any super-hero, or villain for that matter, that fears or needs guns doesn't rate in my book. I bring this up only to illustrate how a traditionalist stance on superheroes doesn't quite line up with the change occurring in today's target audience (vigilantes have been all the rage for some time now, and near-powerless heroes have also seen a huge boost in popularity). After some two-score years of fandom of comics/sci-fi/fantasy/animation/horror I've come to the realization that it's easier (and more enjoyable) to celebrate the interests I have in common with younger/newer fans than be that curmudgeonly dude in the corner folding his arms and muttering to himself about how shit just ain't the same anymore...
