Get those salt-shakers ready folks, because we have a very interesting - and unusual - item for you today.
As you can see to the left of this image, that is a fully gold chromed version of the legendary
Fortress Maximus
- the largest Transformers toy ever released. He originally hit stores in 1987 as the centerpiece of the Headmasters line, and has since gone on to command high prices on the secondary market. The mold has been reused a couple of times down the years, including Brave Maximus in Car Robots - also known as Fortress Maximus in the series Robots in Disguise.
Which brings us to this strange piece. It is on display at Cybertron Con in China alongside many other items including the prototype for Masterpiece Rodimus Prime. While it is tempting to write this off as a bootlegger getting a bit over-enthusiastic with gold chrome, it is on display with the other official Transformers merchandise -
which you can check out here on ACToys
.
UPDATE - 2005 Boards member DrillBIT and several other members have pointed out
this new image
. For those that cannot read the caption, it explains that this is a
fan made custom item and not an official piece
. The fan who created this awesome piece brought it out for display at Cybertron Con for his fellow fans to enjoy.
So there you have it.
It's a custom, not an official piece
, and doesn't hint at a reissue or anything.
It's still extremely cool though, so enjoy the pics by clicking on the title of this story.
