On the subject of Carol's strength, I have to admit that Marvel never seems to do well on that front with female characters. Notice how, out of all the Marvel powerhouses, both in strength and intelligence, none are women? I always found that odd. There is not a single female intellectual worthy of, say, The Illuminati. Even Kitty Pryde, who could be one, is played as a regular joe compared to Beast. Possibly Valeria Richards in a few years?
Anywho! I digress, yes Carol is not super strong. She's more Thing-levels of strength, not Hulk or Thor. I guess that's what makes her more relatable?

Yeah, Wonder Woman was always as powerful as Supes (and considered a better fighter by many). They even promoted her from demigod (Herc/Eternals/Thanos-Titans) status, to that of a god (Odin/Asgardians, Zeus/Olympians etc). Marvel doesn't seem to have anywhere near the same amount of ultra powerful females.

I always thought Monica would be that powerhouse. Then there are the Shulks. Binary was strong, but they never let that story take hold. I think the problem with Carol is that they can't explain the jump in power in comparison to the original CM. Storm and Namora could be Illuminati...and if Angela ever gets accepted by Marvel fans, she could be that super-woman character. Your point about female intellectual powerhouses is eyeopening. I can't think of any heralded female hero that is celebrated as a standout mind (Marvel or DC)...even the characters known for mind powers (Jean, Emma, Moondragon, Mantis etc), somehow don't rise to that level of "superior intellect." Pretty sad...
