I see the glowing review and all the excitement from others on the thread, but I have to warn everyone again...buyer beware. This happened not more than five minutes after my Striker left the package...
This is because NECA obviously spent the budget on this figure's new articulation and paints, while going cheap on the construction, opting to use nothing more than
GLUE
to keep the legs secured to the body. Now, while that might be a harsh or untrue statement made out of anger, the truth of the matter is that there is indeed no post or peg running through the figure's hips (which the figure is somewhat top-heavy) to provide additional support, and all that's holding those appendages on is factory glue.
Whether this is intentional by design (since a lot of the original Strikers tended to break at the hips) or an oversight, it pisses me off because somewhere, some child's day (not to mention his hard earned allowance) is going to be ruined by this, and for an "ultimate" figure, I really feel this is unacceptable, especially considering how GOOD some of the recent ultimate figures have been (in particular, the Terminator series.) Not to mention how much we pay for these damn things already.
So...i.e. if the glue that they used to seal the figure's legs on the body is bad, then your figure will fall apart before you even have a change to enjoy it. While there isn't much articulation there, I strongly advice folks to NOT try to kick the legs out to the side in any fashion, and stick with simple forward and backward motions, and above all else,
handle the legs with EXTREME care
.
I've contacted NECA about the situation, and all they told me was to send another email to their customer service department using that horrible form on their website. I'm gonna keep fighting them on this in hopes of getting this figure replaced. Right now Striker only stands on my shelf simply because I happened to have a tube of Gorilla Glue lying around, which so far, is holding up better than whatever the crap was that NECA used to build it...
