Calling SDCC a stupid convention would be like calling the Superbowl a minor spectacle. In recent years more than ever SDCC has become practically an investment for the entertainment industry to get things hyped. People literally stand in a line for hours just to be among the first to watch a new trailer and hear some Q+A from some of those involved.

LOL what? This is an extreme overstatement, granted it is an opinion. As a company they've been strictly improving upon what were already good figures over the past couple of years but when ANOTHER company forces them into a limited release for a product and they move ahead under said restrictions it's treated as if it's NECA's fault. If anything this whole "fiasco" just shows how bad Playmates is since they're the ones forcing this into exclusive territory because they know at retail it would shame their stuff.
People complaining about the release method is warranted because this is so demanded but don't get frustrated with the wrong company. This is just like when they could only do the DC movie figures under a limited release as a promotion because of Mattel and WB but people blamed NECA for the difficulties.
