This is more like they gave it a God of War aesthetic and it doesn't really work for me, imo. but, yeah, the heads in particular...undersized and narrow for those bodies. Compare that to the show intro-where they're big and bulky but still proportioned correctly.
Don't get me wrong though, it is dynamic and competently sculpted, I'm just not keen on the art direction.
I googled your example and see where you are coming from now. You're right, this statue is not a seamless representation of the 'toon's art...but I I like it and prefer this style to what they did with the Cartoon Network 'toon. I noticed a funny thing about the old 'toon while looking at images. I'm just now realizing that their heads are larger than normal. The characters don't meet the 8-head rule for figure-drawing. Factoring in that they (Thundercats) aren't human and making room for artistic expression, I guess it doesn't matter...but I hadn't noticed until this dialogue.
