Okay, spent some time with the x-men wave and here are some initial thoughts:
I know it's being said a ton to the point where I was even starting to roll my eyes but this really is the best wave Hasbro has ever done, and may even be the best marvel legend wave (up against TB wave 6). All of these figures would likely be the best of their respective waves if released outside this wave. Even the characters who aren't necessarily "show stealers" feel like a tremendous amount of care was given to them. Nobody feels tacked on, or corners cut. It doesn't feel like a cash in or afterthought either like the TRU wave did. The lineup to the execution feel very lovingly done.
Kitty Pryde-Perfect example of my "tremendous amount of care" point. Very ho-hum costume, but so well executed it never feels like it. Lockheed does take a little bit of maneuvering to get right on her.
Phoenix-Another very basic figure, but never feels short changed. Fantastic sculpt. Snuck her into my cosmic display instead of x-men cause I already have a Jean and will take whatever excuse I can to add to my cosmic display.
Havok-Makes the bucky mold pop even after it's umpteenth use. Also thrown into my cosmic display because war of kings and aforementioned any excuse.
Iceman-Had very little interest in this figure when it was announced but I'm really impressed with it, maybe the Dark Horse of the wave for me. Looks great however it is posed.
Rogue-Fantastic. For me this is what I see as rogue when I close my eyes. As far as this version of rogue is concerned, we'll likely never need another one.
I've kept wolvie, deadpool and cable on ice right now, because I'm still happy with the toybiz ones and haven't decided if I'll keep em or trade em or sell em. But even in packaging, they are impressive.
Also, though not assembled, the Juggernaut BAF pieces are BIG.
