As far as taxes are concerned one of the main reasons we have higher sales taxes in Texas is because we don't have a state income tax. Some have been calling for the implementation of an income tax and the reduction or elimination of others in its place but as a very conservative state the chances are highly unlikely. The property tax is what can really bite you in the ass here, if your land goes up in value over night for no reason of your own you can expect to still have to pay more unless you go out of your way to argue the point.

Well tax here is 9.25% so it could be worse lol
