Ok now for the elephant in the room...WTF is the netting for anyway? I know the predator had it in the movie and all and maybe that can be explained but why do the all have it? I can get past the transparency as it is kinda the predator's thing to make things cloaked. So why can't they have technology that makes their netting blend in with their skin tone like they do their surroundings in the movies. BUT WHY DO THEY HAVE IT?

Because it gave the creature an interesting visual aesthetic? I doubt Stan Winston's crew gave it much thought beyond that. Since then its just become part of the standard design, wouldn't give it too much thought.
