I think it's a combo of factors, kid diddleing freeks in the news every day, leading to paranoia, not that that's unjustified. People just not doing it anymore, I live in Tennessee now, and the houses are crazy far apart, but even in my grandmothers neighborhood where they are close, we only got like five trick or treaters last year ( the last one got loaded down.) lazy kids, I never went trick or treating with my parents, and me and my friends would probably do 10-15 miles in a night. But now days ya just don't see large gangs of kids roaming the streets at 3 am, hell I wouldn't be shocked if its illeagule now days. And a lot of malls, community centers, and downtown areas do trick or treat things for little kids that are " safer". Plus it just seems everyone is so damn preoccupied with not being offended, offensive, or scared they just lock themselves in and hide from life.
