Oh yeah, that's well-documented by 501st members and the like. There were two main versions of the armor used in ANH: the Hero armor, and the Stunt armor. That's common film costuming talk; the Hero one is what's supposed to be used during close-up shots and whenever the costume is in focus, so it's usually more detailed, while the Stunt armor is used for more action-y shots and shots where the costume's not in focus, so it's less detailed. However, in ANH, they used the two costumes interchangeably, (unintentionally?) creating noticeable variants.
