In the original comics, Captain America's final World War II outfit was the same thing he's worn in the modern day ever since he was thawed out, barring some very temporary situations.
Liking the Ultimate design is all well and good. But "I can't believe" you expect "fan boys" of any stripe to automatically agree with your individual opinion. I think the costume looks perfectly plausible for a "World War II" outfit in a
comic-book universe
where superhero technology regularly outpaces civilian technology. Let's not forget that there is/was plenty of "superscience" going on back in World War II in the Marvel Universe, and indeed it's a critical component of both Cap's origin and the creation of his shield. The movie outfit borrows elements from the outfit you've shown, his modern "Ultimate" costume, and from some of the outfits seen in "Reborn."
Nevermind that they've already said he'll have multiple costumes in the film. (At least two, possibly more)
