What's with the weird gloves and hand gestures?

Addendum: Did my own research. The gold fingertips are associated with traditional Southeast Asian dance, particularly in places with a strong Buddhist influence. Some of the dance videos online are quite beautiful. So I guess the use of finger jewelry by the models in the photos is just a bit of local flavor. Pardon my ignorance.
