If it's an actual metal chrome over a metal base (most aren't) then any high quality polish will work fine. If it's chrome aluminum anodized (over a plastic base) then you run the risk of rubbing through it with any type of cleaner other than hot soapy water and a very soft cloth (t-shirt material seems to work best). To seal the chrome and prevent further degradation or wear, you can use a high quality supergloss clear to cover it.
