Man I have been Lurking hard lately....
D Day - I felt the exact same way you did about pictures not getting any love, I would post some of my customs and no one would even acknowledge it and then someone would post a melted crayon and everyone would chime in on how great it is. I never dogged anyone's work, but to see others praised for their efforts while mine were barely noticed was certainly discouraging. It didn't stop me from customizing or make me lose any interest, just something I never understood. What actually made me less interested was Hasbro releasing many official figures that I had already made customs of and beginning with Marvel Infinite I felt like all I was buying was inferior versions of figures I already had, but these were "Official". Honestly it was Beast, Sandman, and Bishop that really did me in. They are just terrible versions that could have been so much better.
Additionally it is really silly to think that the amount of hits these forums receive are any indication of how well specific lines for Hasbro are selling. Plus Marvel Legends were "returned" in 2012 so of course there are going to be far more interest in collectors that have years invested in another line, versus a line that was just starting/returning.

Kernel threw out the best data we can find, and unfortunately if you think about it, it looks like the 6" line is king. I mean in 2016 we saw the 3.75" line rebranded to Legends and the only decent figure to emerge was Gamora in a costume very few wanted. They also brought back the comic packs with a terrible spider-man two pack, a repacked Carol Danvers, and two FN Hyperions... These were all terrible packs IMO, and all hit clearance bins in droves.
As someone who has picked up almost every 6" legends figure from the past two years, I can say that there is no reason to hate them or not like what they are doing, they are releasing some of the best molds we got years ago, simply making them a little bigger. That Warlock wave Cyclops is the spitting image of our 3.75" one from 2011, his belt even sits too high on his waist just like ours!
There is no reason at this point to defend the line, it isn't selling well because it is too expensive and is an inferior product. That could very well change, but to be so naïve and think everyone wants 3.75" toys is foolish.
UKMU has a good point about the amount of people that collect 3.75" is probably greater than 6" collectors due to Star Wars and Joes, but that doesn't change the fact that they are not buying what's available. Currently no Joes on the Market and the 3.75" black series all hit clearance as well.
Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but step out of your fandom and think like a business. If Hasbro had one of its best years with Stall at the helm for Marvel, do you think they are looking to change the formula?
Also last but not least as it has been said and pointed out numerous times, Hasbro makes a ton of other stuff than just Marvel and I'm sure the sales of 4" and 6" are such small percentages of their profit that to think we the community will influence their business practices is laughable.
