Alright, I'm pretty sure we've got a lot of old farts in this thread, but anybody who grew up in the 2000's, could you please tell me:
What are YOUR experiences with basic lightsabers?
I mean, we adults love us a good old electronic blade that lights up and makes the noises and generally costs too much, but as a kid, electronic lightsabers weren't so sophisticated, and thus the only dueling you could do is Episode 4 Obi-wan vs. Vader style tapping(which you would always get loud and clear past the sound effects). That crap wouldn't fly for a prequel kid! We wanted to go nuts, and the basic lightsabers did just that! Solid plastic blade, perfectly retractable and easy to carry on the pants, and it cut out the pointless sound effects. It was all straight and clean WHAP WHAP WHAP. If you were a REAL Jedi Knight, your activation sound wasn't a "Pchooooo," it was a simple whoosh as your blade exited the handle for battle. And of course, whilst dueling, you'd occasionally hit the other dude and have to REALLY show off your defensive skills(which is hard when you only have one eye, but it still took a while to hit me back).
I've still got 3 battle veterans on my shelves right now. Only 3 ever broke on us, if I recall correctly. Mainly asking this because I'm gonna do a video on them. If we have any parents with kids that have or have had them, feel free to chime in.
