Fett is paid for locating the Falcon so the Empire is able to intercept them at Bespin. Then after that it's implied Fett has a claim on Solo. But why? Either Vader just let's him have Solo or maybe since Solo has a bounty on his head, he has "worth" so maybe Solo IS the reward or part of the reward? Otherwise, it seems like Fett gets paid twice for just finding the Falcon, which doesn't really make sense.

Vader only wanted Solo and pals as bait to lure Luke to him so once Luke was set to arrive Vader didn't give a shit about what happened to Han Solo. This is why Vader had no problems testing the carbon freeze chamber on Han, and then after that test proved a success he didn't need him for anything else (he wasn't in the market for a nice end-table or anything) so why would he care if Boba Fett takes him? His willingness to compensate Boba Fett though in the event that Han had died was kind of out of nowhere though. So Vader and the Empire had already paid Boba for locating the Falcon's crew so why do they care if Han biting the dust nullifies a separate contract with Jabba the Hutt? Maybe Vader actually likes Boba Fett, he's just a fan like the rest of us.
