According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Zack Snyder (Watchmen, Sucker Punch) has been chosen to helm the next Superman movie. Chris Nolan (Dark Knight, Inception) will be producing from a script by David Goyer. It has also been previously reported that Nolan will be "Godfathering" the next Superman film. I'm not 100% sure what that means, but it seems that he will be overseeing the development and process of the movie. I'm sure Warner Bros. wants as much input as possible from Mr. Nolan after what he did for the Batman franchise.

I personally think that Zack Snyder is an interesting choice. I think that he is a little more style over substance (but oh what a style it is). His upcoming Sucker Punch looks absolutely amazing, at least visually. I love Nolan's story-telling but I think he lacks a little bit in the breathtaking visuals department (Inception included). I think that Nolan's Gotham City is very mundane. I know that he intended for his Batman to take place in the real world, but I feel Gotham should look a little more fantastical. Hopefully Snyder and Nolan will compliment each other and knock this one out of the ballpark. We could use a kick-ass Superman flick. I will forever love the Christopher Reeve movies, but even I have to admit that they are dated.

What do you guys think about this news? Looking forward to the new Superman or couldn't care less?
