I can pull off more poses then the actual toy by cheating.
Basically, by thinking outside of the box, I can move joints around to achieve the poses like the one in this render. It also helps break the boxy pose look, and help create something more dynamic. I use Softimage XSI 4.2.

Thanks! Some one on another board did a coloring job of my line art render, giving City Commander a G1 prime look. He basically looked more like Power Master Prime with the Apex armor, color wise.
