For ground posing, I use stands from a company called Lil Marauders. You can find them on ebay. Each stand has two different peg sizes. The stands also connect together like a jigsaw puzzle which helps support the figures.
I also use Sticky Tac on a number of figures. It's nearly invisible compared to traditional stands. It's also incredibly cheap. For around $3, I can get enough of the stuff to pose hundreds of figures. Only downside, it doesn't always remove cleanly from the bottom of the figure's feet (particularly characters who have shoes with treads).

I can vouch for the Marauders stands. I use them at times for legends figures in static poses. They also work great with my three and three quarter inch stuff.
