Hello! I joined this forum for one reason only but I do like toys and tinkering so I may stay around
I need to know what phrases a 1967 Mattel talking Doctor Dolittle doll says. I can't find this information anywhere. I've found a video of the doll talking, but I can't tell if it shows every phrase and the video is old so my comment may not be answered. I can't find a complete list of the phrases anywhere. I can't even find an old commercial for the toy.
My boyfriend recently purchased one of these dolls but its voicebox has been completely removed. I ordered a new digital voicebox that I can program with as many tracks as I want. I'd like to program in the original phrases and give him the voicebox for Christmas so that he can put it in the doll (He doesn't care about restoring the doll to the original state, he just wants it to be charming again).
Also, the only programmable voiceboxes I could find that I can purchase without having to make a massive wholesale minimum order are push button activated, but the toy originally had a pull string mechanism. If anyone knows where I could get a digital, programmable voicebox that's activated by a string not a button, or if you can direct me to a tutorial on how to modify a push button activator to operate with a string, please help me out. I have seen talking toys that are powered by batteries but are activated by a pull string just for the old-timey effect, so I know this must be possible.
